Nas has been up to something. The notoriously conscious rapper and producer not only worked on the set for the popular Netflix series, The Get Down but he and Machine Gun Kelly had their hands in another recent production production. The film called The Land was released via The Sundance Film Festival on July 29, 2016 delves into deep issues and brings light upon the underground hip-hop culture in Cleveland.
Nas’ verse in this moving number from the soundtrack sheds light on the struggle of fighting from the bottom to make your way to the top as an aspiring artist. Badu’s Nina Simone style vocals were written and flawlessly performed in such a way that manages to massage listener’s heart strings and send chills up spines at the same time.
This coming together of two of the greatest voices in the soul and hip-hop scene will go down in history!
