In today’s social media-driven world, it’s easy to get caught up in what we think beauty is.
Hundreds of girls have become famous just for the photos they post of themselves on Instagram. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with someone using what they have to get ahead in life, but in many, many cases, what you see isn’t exactly who you get.
Just like the old adage that you can’t believe everything you read when it comes to pics posted to social media apps, you can’t believe everything you see, either.
Thanks to a little Photoshop touch-up and clever makeup tricks, people can make themselves look like anything they want you to see.
Yet millions of young girls across the world see these females and believe the woman in the photo is who she purports to be and go to great lengths, sometimes even dangerous lengths, to achieve the same look.
Body-positive blogger Sara Puhto wants to change this by sharing a secret: what you see is not necessarily real. The 20-year-old uses the Internet to teach others to appreciate what they have and that true beauty begins with self-love.
One of the ways she illustrates her points is by posting before and after pics that prove that anyone can alter their appearance by doing such simple things as changing the camera angle or sucking in their stomach. Puhto shows how a flat behind can becoming a poppin’ booty with a simple twist of the waste.
